One day Workshop on SCAFFOLDING & WORKING AT HEIGHTS

 One day Workshop on
SCAFFOLDING AND WORKING AT HEIGHTS
 (13th September 2014)

http://www.scribd.com/doc/237014699/One-day-Workshop-on-SCAFFOLDING-WORKING-AT-HEIGHTS
PROGRAMME PERSPECTIVE:
Scaffolding has a variety of applications. It is used in construction, alteration, routine maintenance and renovation. Scaffolding offers a safer and more comfortable work arrangement compared to leaning over edges, stretching overhead and working from ladders. Suitable and sufficient scaffolding must be supplied for work at elevations that cannot be accomplished safely by other means. Properly erected and maintained, scaffolding provides workers safe access to work locations, level and stable working platforms, and temporary storage for tools and materials for performing immediate tasks.
Scaffolding can provide an efficient and safe means to perform work at height. However, unsafe scaffolding procedures can lead to accidents, serious injuries and death due to fall from height.
Working at Height (WAH) incidents has been a main concern over the years.  Work at heights can result in serious workplace injuries and even death regardless the duration of work or distance of fall, if the necessary safety measures are not in place.
The Occupier of the factory or a Construction Site is responsible to ensure that any work inside the premises shall be carried out as prescribed under the regulations and all steps are taken to identify and mitigate the hazards during such work.

HIGHLIGHTS
The Workshop aims at:
1.      Understanding the scaffold, its types and related terms
2.      Understanding methods of erection, use and dismantling of scaffolding that can substantially reduce scaffold-related accidents and injuries.
3.      Precautions that can prevent serious accidents and protect workers against fall injuries and fatalities.
4.      Understanding the related regulations and ways to comply with the law while working safely at heights.

One day seminar on OSHE Legal Requirements
(31st May 2014)

PROGRAMME PERSPECTIVE:
OSHE referred to as Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OHSE) is an area concerned with protecting the safety, health, welfare and environment of people engaged in work or employment. The goals of occupational safety and health programs include fostering a safe and healthy work environment so as to increase the productivity of the work force. OSHE may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment.
In India the Factories Act, 1948 is a social legislation which has been enacted for occupational safety, health and welfare of workers at work places.  In 1986, the Environment Act was also enacted and under Environment Act, 1986, more rules like Air Act, Water Act, MSIHC rules, Hazardous waste rules, E-waste rules, etc were framed. On   many occasions, it has been noticed that the employers and managers/supervisors are unaware of these legal requirements which ultimately ends up with non compliances and legal issues.  Hence, to create awareness among industrial fraternity, Green Triangle Society in association with Inspectorate of Factories & Boilers is organising “One day seminar on OSHE Legal Requirements”, on 31st May 2014, at Vivanta by Taj, Panaji, Goa.

HIGHLIGHTS
·         Having a safe workplace environment is more than just good business practice — it's the law. Attend this one-day seminar and discover smart solutions, quick fixes and preventative measures that will help you maintain a safe working environment.
·         During this workshop you'll quickly develop an understanding of employer's and employee's rights and responsibilities when it comes to ergonomic issues, toxic chemicals, hazardous materials, on-the-job accidents, dangerous equipment, and much more.
·         The objective of the program is to give in-depth knowledge to the participants about the relevant Acts and rules pertaining to Occupational Health, Industrial Safety, and Environment.
·         Case studies/ Supreme Court judgments will also be presented on OSHE which will enlighten our minds as to what went wrong and what corrective action could have been taken.
