WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
Sub: World
Environment Day 2012 Celebrations, Goa
World
Environment Day, commemorated every year on 5 June, is an important day through
which the United Nations promotes worldwide awareness of the environment
related problems. Green Triangle
Society, an NGO dedicated towards promotion of Occupational Safety, Health and
Environment celebrates World Environment Day each year in a befitting
manner.
Green Triangle Society in association
with Inspectorate of Factories &
Boilers, Govt. of Goa have come
together to celebrate World Environment
Day on Friday, 5th June 2012
in Goa by organizing a
lecture at the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industries Conf. Hall, at
3.45 pm.
The theme of WED
2012 is “Green Economy: Does it include YOU?” The 2012 theme
for World Environment Day is Green Economy: Does it include you? Evidently,
there are two parts to this theme and the first tackles the subject of the
Green Economy. This is where some people shut off their minds because they find
the concept of the Green Economy a little too complex to understand. On the contrary, the Green Economy is really
something that is applicable all around you and it is easy to imagine how you
fit in it
Dr. Alan Sanjay
Rocha, a well-known faculty member from NITTTR (National Institute of
Technical Teachers Training and
Research) Goa extension centre will be
the faculty for the program and he will speak on the Topic” Renewable Energy and Growth Potential” which is
very much relevant to the industry. As we celebrate WED, let us
consider carefully the actions each of us must take, and then address ourselves
to our common task of preserving all life on Earth.
The organizers extend you an invitation for
the programme and look forward to your participation in this seminar.
Please confirm your participation in view

HIRA
ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON
HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND RISK ANALYSIS
AS PER IS 15656:2006
(HIRA
– CODE OF PRACTICE)
7th March 2012, Hotel Manoshanti, Panaji
Goa
Organized by
Green Triangle Society
In
association with
Inspectorate of Factories & Boilers
OBJECTIVE
The Industries do
adopt various methods for ensuring safety in their operations. However, with
the progressive advances in technology, the continuing trend towards larger and
more highly integrated production units, and the ever-increasing demand by
governmental and public bodies for improved safety and environmental standards,
the conventional methods of design based on established principles and codes of
practice are no longer adequate in themselves for ensuring acceptable standard
of safety.
As a preventive
measure of minimizing the chance of accident to occur in industries and thereby
reducing the possibility of injury, loss of material and degradation of the
environment, it is necessary to use more searching and systematic methods for
risk control to supplement existing procedures.
The present workshop
based on IS 15656:2006 (HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND RISK ANALYSIS
– CODE OF PRACTICE),
will take a review of the techniques which are
now being employed throughout the life of an installation, by enlightened
management.
BENEFIT
The workshop is
intended to acquaint the participants with the very fundamental aspect of
hazard identification techniques and hence should be useful for them in
operations they are carrying out.
After attending the
workshop, the participants will have a good insight in the fundamentals of
hazard identification and risk analysis. They will be able use the various
techniques which will be discussed with the help of various case studies, in
their day to day working.

the workshop, including the following -

FACTORIES ACT & BEHAVIORAL BASED SAFETY
WORKSHOP ON
FACTORIES
ACT & BEHAVIORAL BASED SAFETY
18th February 2012
Hotel Fidalgo, Panaji Goa
Organized by
Green
Triangle Society
In association with
Inspectorate
of Factories & Boilers
INTRODUCTION
The Factories Act, 1948 is a social legislation and it
provides for the health, safety, welfare, working hours, leave and other
benefits for workers employed in factories. It seeks to provide protection to
the worker from being exploited by establishments and it also provides for the
improvement of working conditions within factory premises. It is enacted
primarily with the object of protecting workers employed in factories against
industrial and occupational hazards.
The workplace accidents are primarily due to unsafe
human behavior which if corrected can bring down 90% of the injuries. The
safety of the workplace is influenced by a number of factors such as the organizational
environment, management attitude and commitment, the nature of the job or task,
and the personal attributes of the individual. Safety related behaviour at the workplace can be modified by addressing
these major influences. The successful introduction of a behavioral safety
process, focusing on identifying and reinforcing safe and reducing unsafe behaviour, is one means of improving safety performance.
Promoting safe behavior at work is a critical part of
the management of health and safety, because behavior turns systems and
procedures into reality. On their own, good systems do not ensure successful
health and safety management, as the level of success is determined by how
organizations ‘live’ their systems
Behavioral programmes have become popular in the
safety domain, as there is evidence that a proportion of accidents are caused
by unsafe behavior. Whilst a focus on changing unsafe behavior into safe
behavior is appropriate, this should not deflect attention from also analyzing
why people behave unsafely. To focus solely on changing individual behavior without considering necessary changes
to how people are organised, managed, motivated, rewarded and their physical
work environment, tools and equipment can result in treating the symptom only,
without addressing the root causes of unsafe behavior.

delegates on contribution of sub- standard conditions and sub standard human
actions, foundation for loss-time accident injury ,importance of SOPs

causative factors for behavior by an Organism and necessity to control
behaviour for fulfilling organizational commitment.
